2025 Mercedes Trophy India National Final concludes

After months of intense regional competition across India, the 2025 Mercedes Trophy National Final culminated in a grand celebration of golf and camaraderie at the superbly-conditioned Oxford Golf Resort, in Pune, from April 24–26. 

The final leg of the prestigious amateur series brought together 57 regional winners from 19 regional rounds, vying for three coveted spots to represent Mercedes-Benz India at the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany.

This year’s finale combined championship golf with the hallmark luxury of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The 24th Indian edition of the amateur series attracted over 2,000 golfers in its regional rounds—reinforcing its position as the largest and longest-running corporate golf tournament in India.

As always, this year’s finale combined competitive golf with a memorable visit to the HQ of Mercedes-Benz in India. 

Indian squad selected for World Final in Germany:
The final event featured three handicap-based categories (0–15, 16–18, and 19–24), with one winner emerging from each:

• Ishwar Kapsi (Bangalore) topped the 0–15 category with 39 points
• Vijay C. Reddy (Hyderabad) led the 16–18 category with 41 points
• Shiv Agarwal (Mumbai) won the 19–24 category with 37 points

These three will now go on to represent India at the Mercedes Trophy World Final, held in Germany—a global event that has featured participation from over 60,000 golfers across 60 countries.

Drive to Major:
Every year, Mercedes Benz India sends one winner from India to the world’s foremost Major Championship – The $20 million Open Championship, played at iconic courses in the British Isles like St. Andrews, Muirfield, Troon, and others, where guest experience includes rounds of golf on nearby championship courses, VIP passes to watch players like Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler, and others at The Open, and a chance to play at the venue of The Open on Monday, immediately after the championship conclusion – a money-cannot-buy experience.

As the official automobile partner of The Open Championship, this memorable experience is a highlight of the Mercedes Trophy India. This year, Kedar Thapar won the “Drive to Major” contest by hitting his tee shot at the par-5 16th hole to just one foot from the center line, and will be a guest of Mercedes in July when The Open tees off at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Finalists were also treated to a signature Mercedes-Benz experience, including an exclusive factory tour and visit to the Center of Excellence at the Mercedes-Benz India plant. The visit provided participants a behind-the-scenes look at the brand’s precision engineering and innovation. Guests enjoyed an off-roading experience which demonstrated the stability, power, and safety features of the vehicles.

As the National Finals conclude, attention now turns to the World Final in Stuttgart, where the three Indian winners will test their game against other winners from across the globe. For the finalists and sponsors alike, the Mercedes Trophy continues to be more than a tournament—it remains a celebration of partnership.

With another successful season wrapped, the 24th annual edition of the Mercedes Trophy once again reaffirmed its legacy as the gold standard of Indian corporate golf.
