
India’s Diksha Dagar, who is enjoying another consistent year in Europe, showed she can handle the world’s best as she comfortably made the cut and finished 46th with rounds of 71-73-73-77 at the US$9.75 million AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl, Wales.
Diksha was tied-29th at the halfway stage and had to withstand high winds on the final day. She earned US$ 34,663 (₹ 30.3 lacs approx) to remain 12th on the LET rankings.
Diksha will now head to London for the US$ 2mn PIF London Championship at Centurion from Aug. 8-10, where she will be joined by LPGA regular Aditi Ashok, Pranavi Urs who is trying to make a comeback after an injury in the last few weeks and 18 year old rookie Avani Prashanth of Bangalore who has shown great poise in tackling European conditions this season.
24-year-old Miyu Yamashita of Japan carded rounds of 68-65-74-70 to lift her maiden major title at 11-under par, making her the second Japanese major winner this season alone, following Mao Saigo’s triumph earlier at the Chevron Championship in April.
